Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, or simply Hogwarts, is a prestigious British magical boarding school for witches and wizards aged between eleven and seventeen. Located in the Scottish Highlands, it accepts students from Great Britain and Ireland. It is a public school, funded by the British Ministry of Magic. It is the main stage of the Harry Potter book series (authored by J. K. Rowling), with the exception of the last one.

Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone Christmas

We experience the Holidays at Hogwarts for the first time right alongside Harry and Rowling’s description of the seasonal scenes doesn’t disappoint.

“The hall looked spectacular. Festoons of holly and mistletoe hung all around the walls, and no less than twelve towering Christmas trees stood around the room, some sparkling with tiny icicles, some glittering with hundreds of candles.”

If that doesn’t put you in the mood to decorate your own halls, I’m not sure what will.

The scene where Harry sees his parents in the mirror for the first time makes an appearance in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix during Harry’s Occlumency lessons with Snape. Harry stumbles upon this mirror when, attempting to evade capture by Filch and Snape after starting a book screaming in the Restricted section of the library, Harry retreats through an open door. In the Mirror, he sees himself and his father and mother, standing behind him, and all his extended family behind them.

“One can never have enough socks,” said Dumbledore. “Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn’t get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books.”

Coolest gifts ever

Harry Potter received the cloak of invisibility offered by his father with a message that said: ” Your father left this in my possession before he died, It is time It was returned to you. Use it Well.”

Harry receives a Firebolt This has to be Harry’s coolest gift ever. Harry ripped the parcel open and gasped as a magnificent, gleaming broomstick rolled out onto his bedspread. It was a Firebolt, identical to the dream broom Harry had gone to see every day in Diagon Alley.
